Thermally Insulated Dampers

Series 9000

TAMCO’s thermally insulated blades are constructed using an aluminum shell, injected with polyurethane foam.

Optimum placement of three thermal breaks along the blades isolates the warm and cold sides of the damper.

Non-metallic blade and side seals minimize thermal bridging across blade surfaces.

These design features combine to control the forces of radiation, convection, and infiltration. This ensures blade insulating effectiveness.

Comes with extremely flexible TPE (Santoprene) side seals and EPDM blade gaskets as standard.

Applications:
  • If coil freeze-up is a concern.

  • For air handler intake and exhaust.

  • If the damper is closed approximately 50 % of the time.

Air leakage:
  • 4.12 cfm/ft² @ 4” w.g. AMCA certified.

Severe Cold Option

TAMCO’s thermally insulated blades are constructed using an aluminum shell, injected with polyurethane foam.

Optimum placement of three thermal breaks along the blades isolates the warm and cold sides of the damper.

Non-metallic blade and side seals minimize thermal bridging across blade surfaces.

These design features combine to control the forces of radiation, convection, and infiltration. This ensures blade insulating effectiveness.

Side seals and blade gaskets are made of silicone.

This grade of silicone is virtually unaffected by cold winter temperatures, down to -40°F (-40°C).

Ensures minimal change in leakage rates as temperature drops, making this damper ideal for severe cold weather applications.

Applications:
  • If coil freeze-up is a concern.
  • For air handler intake and exhaust.
  • If the damper is closed approximately 50 % of the time.
Air leakage:
  • 4.12 cfm/ft² @ 4” w.g. AMCA certified.
  • Air leakage does not exceed 4.9 cfm/ft² at -40°F (-40°C) for the SERIES 9000 SC.

Thermally broken frame, coupled with thermally insulated blades, reduce or eliminate condensation and freeze-up.

Aluminum, insulated dampers, installed as “Flanged to Duct” type, create a true thermal barrier between outside air temperature and desired interior temperature. (*TAMCO does not offer 9000 BF, or 9000 ECT with “Installed in Duct” type mounting, as duct work would create a thermal bridge.)

Energy savings are obtained from the resulting thermal efficiency and low air leakage rates.

Ideal for severe cold weather climates down to -40°F (-40°C).

Silicone blade and side seals are supplied as standard.

Applications:
  • In conditions of high relative humidity.
  • If the damper is closed approximately 80 % of the time.
  • When there are extreme temperature differentials.
  • For air intake and exhaust.
  • Where low leakage, maintenance-free dampers are required for ducted, or non-ducted outside walls, or plenums.
Air leakage:
  • 4.12 cfm/ft² at 4” w.g. AMCA certified.
  • Air leakage does not exceed 4.9 cfm/ft² at -40°F (-40°C).
